Alleged girlfriend killer bail ruling today

Alleged girlfriend killer bail ruling today

The Windhoek Magistrate’s Court last week postponed the bail hearing of Tjizake Murangi (22), who stands accused of murdering his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend Frieda Amadhila, to today.

Murangi, a gym instructor, made a brief appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Friday. It is alleged that in April last year, he stabbed Amadhila eight times when he entered her rented apartment in Windhoek’s Ausspannplatz area after she ended their relationship.

At the time of the incident, the Namibian Police reported that neighbours alerted them about the couple’s fight, and upon arrival, found the flat locked. It was discovered that the suspect drove to Katutura State Hospital, where he parked the vehicle at the emergency room door, and informed nurses that the deceased needed their urgent attention.

She was declared dead upon arrival. Murangi subsequently got admitted into the hospital after a botched suicide attempt.

Magistrate Monica Andjaba is presiding over the matter. Defence lawyer Milton Engelbrecht is representing the suspect. Rowan van Wyk is representing the State. – Nampa
