Alleged killer of wife, son denied bail

Home National Alleged killer of wife, son denied bail

Rundu

Rundu Magistrate’s Court yesterday dismissed the bail plea of Mbangu Vensislaus Mutero, 46, who allegedly shot and murdered his wife and seven-year-old son last September.

“Under the circumstances it would not be in the interest of justice to grant bail, as he may go out and do something to his other children,” Magistrate Barry Mufana said.

Mutero’s alleged double murder took place last year on Friday October 25, four days before his 45th birthday at Ndiyona Settlement in Kavango East.

The accused allegedly shot to death his wife and seven-year-old son after a heated argument between the couple. Mutero later handed himself over to law enforcement officers.

Mutero, who lodged a formal bail application to be released on bail, was represented by a private lawyer, Arumugam Thambapilai, when he appeared before Magistrate Mufana, while Emma Mayavero represented the State in the matter.
Mutero remains in custody and his case was remanded to April 21.
