Amupolo encourages support for entrepreneurs

Head of business and commercial banking at Standard Bank Namibia, Helena Amupolo said that it is important to help entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses.

She explained that many entrepreneurs in Namibia are ambitious and creative, but they need the right support to succeed.

She said this at the Market Access and Trade Opportunity Evening hosted by Standard Bank Namibia, in partnership with the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy (NIFA), the event was designed to equip Namibian entrepreneurs and MSMEs with practical knowledge and connections to expand their trade networks, improve competitiveness, and access new markets across borders.

According to Amupolo, access to suitable funding, strong business networks, and clear rules from government are key for small businesses to thrive.

She said that the Market Access & Trade Opportunity Evening is one event that helps small and medium businesses learn useful information, meet helpful partners, and find financial solutions that can help them trade across borders.

“At Standard Bank, we are committed to helping small and medium enterprises grow because we believe that growing businesses means growing Namibia,” Amupolo said.

She added that, the event forms part of the Standard Bank Blue Growth Series, a flagship initiative aimed at driving SME growth, financial inclusion, and sustainable entrepreneurship in Namibia.

The event is open to the public and not limited to Standard Bank clients, and targets both formal and informal businesses engaged in importing, exporting, or cross-border trade, as well as those seeking to enter these spaces. Participants will gain insight into trade finance solutions, logistics, and market access opportunities available within the region and beyond. -pmukokobi@nepc.com.na
