Namibian international Kennedy Amutenya has officially confirmed his move to Botswana’s Mochudi Centre Chiefs, signalling an exciting new chapter in his football career.
The experienced centre back expressed satisfaction with the transfer.
He has previously played for Gaborone United and represented Namibia at international levels.
He joins a side currently sitting in fifth place in the Botswana Premier League standings.
The team has earned 25 points from 14 matches so far this season, positioning themselves as strong contenders in the league.
Tafic leads the standings with 29 points from 13 matches, closely followed by Township Rollers in second place with 27 points from 14 games.
In addition to Amutenya’s arrival, Mochudi Centre Chiefs recently announced the appointment of Pontsho Piro Moloi as the club’s new head coach.
Moloi, who parted ways with Gaborone United just days before, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Chiefs.
His appointment comes after interim coach Sekhana Koko was reassigned to the role of assistant coach.
His move seems to align with Moloi’s arrival, suggesting a strong partnership between the player and new head coach.
The centre-back’s experience and skills are expected to strengthen the Chiefs’ defence as they push for higher positions on the league table.
“I feel good about this new move,” Amutenya said, showing excitement to contribute to the team’s efforts under the new management.
Looking ahead, Mochudi Centre Chiefs are preparing for their next challenge in the Botswana Premier League.
The club will face 14th-placed Extension Gunners this Saturday.
