WINDHOEK
The 12th annual cultural festival of the Polytechnic of Namibia themed, “Ti! nomagu, ti ai isib!,” which translates as “My roots my identity!”
starts this morning at the Windhoek campus with a myriad of festivities.
The festival is sponsored by First National Bank, N$50,000; Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre N$ 18,000; Namibian Medical Care N$10,000 and Punch Life Style two laptops for the Miss and Mr Polytechnic Pageant.
According to a press release, the event provides a platform for students, lecturers and the Namibian community to celebrate cultural diversity through cultural dances, music, games and competitions.
“The week’s festivities include live band performances and an international cuisine event. The international cuisine will feature dishes from various countries across the globe. Namibia’s own menu includes the Namibian Afval Potjie – a deluxe mixture of goat head, trotters, tripe and potatoes,” said the institution’s PRO, Rikondjerua Lubansa.
Neighbouring countries such as Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa as well as countries like Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will crown the continent’s culinary offerings.
“As if this is not enough, an array of sumptuous dishes from countries like China, India and Indonesia, to mention but a few, are lined up. The Miss and Mr Polytechnic 2007 Pageant, scheduled to take place on Friday at the Windhoek Country Club, promises a feverish peak with performers like Lady May and the Matongo Family,” she said.
