Namdeb, which is the leading corporate social investment funding company, on Wednesday morning availed N$1ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 309ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 815 (41%) to the educational sector, N$1ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 024ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 250 (33%) to health, N$305,000 (10%) to community development, N$441ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 500 (14%) to Sport and N$70ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000 (2%) to Small and Medium Entrepreneurs. Managing Director of Namdeb, Inge Zaamwani, said the Namdeb Social Fund seeks to partner with community development organizations and welfare and educational projects among others working to bring lasting change in areas that need it most. Established in 1994, the fund has donated close to N$20-million to various beneficiaries. “The 42 beneficiaries receiving the money today have proved themselves as serious players in the country’s socio-economic development,” she said. On an annual basis, Namdeb receives requests for funding projects and, according to Zaamwani, there are too many of these requests with limited resources at the company’s disposal. She called on other companies in the private sector to establish such a fund that would accelerate development in Namibia.
