Namibian long-distance runner Alina Armas delivered a powerful performance at the 2025 Durban International Marathon, finishing second in the women’s 42.2 km race on Sunday with a time of 2:32:34 seconds.
The race was fiercely contested, with Ethiopia’s Emane Seifu Hayile narrowly claiming victory in 2:31:45 seconds.
Zimbabwe’s Fortunate Chidzivo rounded up the podium in 2:33:30 seconds.
Speaking after the race, Armas expressed satisfaction with her effort.
“I am happy with my performance. My body feels strong and in good shape,” she said.
With her form peaking, Armas now sets her sights on the Vivo Energy Marathon, scheduled to take place in Windhoek on 25 May.
In the men’s division, Kenya’s Felix Kiprotich emerged victorious in an electrifying contest marked by tactical brilliance and sheer endurance.
Kiprotich surged ahead at the 20km mark and managed to fend off a determined challenge from Zimbabwean runners Godwin Katakura (2:11:02) and Blessing Waison 2:11:51 seconds to cross the finish line in 2:10:45 seconds.
