Arnold murder case postponed again

Home Crime and Courts Arnold murder case postponed again

WINDHOEK – The matter in which Anthea Arnold (28), who stands accused of fatally shooting her 52-year-old former German boyfriend Michael Breder two years ago, will proceed in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court in March next year.

On Tuesday the trial was remanded to March 12, 2014, since Arnold’s lawyer was occupied with another case. Early last month Arnold denied she shot the deceased when her trial resumed in the Regional Court in Katutura. Arnold is accused of shooting Breder in his vehicle in Windhoek’s Southern Industrial Area on the night of May 15, 2011. Reports at the time indicated that Arnold and Breder had been sitting in the vehicle and an argument erupted before she allegedly took his firearm and shot him to death.

Arnold’s bail was withdrawn when it was ordered that she should undergo a period of psychiatric observation. Her bail of N$5 000, was however reinstated after Dr Ndahambelela Mthoko, a State psychiatrist, informed the court last year that Arnold had been found fit to plead and stand trial. Mthoko ascertained that Arnold was able to appreciate the wrongfulness of her alleged offence at the time it was committed.
