WINDHOEK – With six rounds of matches under the belt, speculation is rife that the MTC Premiership could claim its first casualty before the start of round seven.

Former Chief Santos defender Wallace Doeseb has rubbished claims about his apparent imminent departure from Eleven Arrows in the wake of last weekend’s home defeat at the hands of league rookies PC Blue Boys at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay.

Arrows are flirting with danger and could so far only garner 3 points from a possible 18 – courtesy of their lone triumph against FNB Orlando Pirates. The seasiders are currently lingering dangerously in the relegation zone, just a point above basement sitters Rundu Chiefs following a shaky start to their league campaign.

Arrows survived relegation by the skin of their teeth over the last two seasons and could find themselves relegated for the 2nd time in the club’s history unless massive adjustments  are effected. The coastal outfit surrendered a 2-goal lead against Blue Boys and lost the crucial tie 3-2 – their 5th defeat in 6 matches.

New Era Sport has reliably learned that Doeseb gave his underperforming soldiers an ultimatum to collect maximum points in their match against Blue Boys, adding that failure to heed the call would result in his immediate resignation.

However, the youthful mentor made a sudden U-turn and claims he only used the threat as a tactic to motivate his misfiring brigade to put in a decent performance.

“I’ve not resigned yet but I’m willing to step down if management requests me to because as it stands, success is measured against results and unfortunately this has not been satisfactory,” said Doeseb when approached to shed light on his status.

Arrows have been skating on thin ice since the hasty departure of Johnny ‘JJD’ Doeseb. The flamboyant mining mogul left the club under a dark cloud after lifting the seasiders to one of the most adored football teams in the business during his abbreviated stint.
