… Bidvest Cup action resumes tonight

WINDHOEK – While fellow Premier league teams fight it out in the last 16 of the lucrative annual Namibia Football Association (NFA) Bidvest Knockout Cup, both Civics and Eleven Arrows will be entangled in a mid-table MTC Premiership battle at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tomorrow at 16h00.

The coastal visitors are still licking their wounds following their unfortunate early exit from the Bidvest Cup at the hands of champions African Stars last weekend.

The seasiders return to the same venue looking for a positive result against the equally inconsistent Civilians to move them away from the relegation zone.

Victory for the hosts will move them up the ladder to joint 4th place with FNB Orlando Pirates on 20 points – 5 adrift of log leaders Tigers, while defeat for Arrows would leave them lingering slightly near the foot of the table on a paltry 10 points from a possible 44 and just two from safety.

Bidvest Cup to be minus one of the big guns in the quarterfinals

Action resumes in the Bidvest Knockout Cup in the Namibian commercial capital Windhoek tonight that sees lower division campaigners Kaizen Football Academy confront Premier League outfit Ramblers in the first of a double header at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 19h00.

The tie will be followed by the eagerly awaited battle of the titans clash between traditional rivals African Stars and Orlando Pirates at 21h00.

Tomorrow’s action switches to the southern town of Mariental where Mountain Rangers entertain Rundu Chiefs, while LHU Blue Waters are up against old foes Tigers in one of the only three all-premier league clashes going into the last 16.

Citizens take on fellow Southern Stream Division One campaigners Bee Bob Brothers (BBB). The Legare Stadium in the Cattle Country is to play host to three mouth-watering clashes that include Premiership outfit Tura Magic against Tropical Brothers with coastal side PC Blue Boys also in action against fellow Premiership campaigners United Stars.

Namibian champions Black Africa should have little trouble booking their place in the next round of the competition at the expense of lower division opponents Blue Birds FC in the last match.

Tickets for the matches are available at Computicket at all Shoprite and Checkers outlets countywide at the low price of N$30
