With the 2022 school year in full swing, the Zambezi education directorate must urgently intervene at Muyako Combined School, where learners have been forced to bring their chairs because of the school’s shortage of furniture. 

Despite being accommodated by government, and some managing to carve out a scant living, Windhoek’s growing homeless community still faces an uncertain future.

Many villagers in the flood-prone areas of Kabbe North and South constituencies in the Zambezi region are being advised to prepare themselves and their belongings for possible evacuation to the higher, safer ground over the next weeks should the Zambezi River continue to rise. 

The government has made N$30 million available for the implementation of rain-fed crop production programmes. 

Workers at TransNamib are up in arms over pension money deducted from them monthly, which the company failed to pay over to the pension administrator since May 2021. 

The Omuthiya Town Council has expressed dismay that several erven allocated to individuals, companies and government have been lying idle for years.

Following the expulsion of Hardap education director Gerhard Ndafenongo from the regional council’s office, the education ministry’s executive director Sanet Steenkamp has intervened and told him to maintain his position.

The education ministry has assured parents that it will continue to pay for security services, but will reduce the number of guards per school.
