Realising the needs of the Lüderitz community and //Kharas region at large, Reverend Jan Scholtz at the weekend launched a foundation which seeks to advocate for economic development. 

The Keetmanshoop municipality has been operating in the absence of a fully constituted management committee since January this year.

Youth members of the Landless People’s Movement took to the streets recently in protest against the Keetmanshoop municipality’s alleged unwillingness to bring one of its senior managers to book for reportedly harassing his female subordinate. 

Endowed with a variety of minerals and gems, fish species and agricultural produce, the //Kharas region has steadily developed as an important economic powerhouse since independence.

Keetmanshoop entrepreneurs are concerned about their relationship with the local council and the level of service delivery.

Swapo Party Youth League secretary Ephraim Nekongo said in order to develop the youth as the country’s future, they should first be empowered as the most important step in grooming them. 

Namibia Revenue Agency commissioner Sam Shivute said engaging taxpayers is assisting the entity in a great way to identify challenges existing to streamline the smooth delivery of services.

The municipality of Keetmanshoop is in the process of aggressively inviting private and public entities to stimulate its local economic development strategies towards the betterment of its residents. This is done through Poblic Private Partnership (PPPs).

Women in Namibia and globally should not underestimate their capabilities and should stop fearing to take on new challenges.

Popular Democratic Movement assigned leader for the //Kharas region Ricky Vries said the movement is not only there to criticise government in what they are doing, but rather also assist it accordingly.
