To mitigate the effects of escalating food and commodity prices and food insecurity in vulnerable communities in Namibia, the World Food Programme yesterday launched the Food Voucher Programme in collaboration with the Japanese embassy at Tsintsabis in the Oshikoto region.

Tribute to Dr Naftali Tuyoleni Hamata 1944-2023

Death robbed us of a great man, who contributed immensely to humankind in Namibia. Dr Naftali Hamata, popularly known in family circles by his African name, Tuyoleni, was born into a peasant family of tatekulu Henok Hamata, a builder and subsistence farmer, and meekulu Saara Nhinda-Hamata, a housewife and subsistence farmer.

Opinion – Is homophobia a resident in the Namibian house?

In a recent submission to the High Court of Namibia, the attorney-general argued that the crime of sodomy is justified as most Namibians still reject homosexuality. The AG primarily relied on “parliament’s activities” that do not suggest a “legislative trend” towards decriminalising sodomy.
