Local photographer Willem Vrey was selected through a competitive application process to partner with the Omeho Project. Vrey is tasked to capture the spirit of startup entrepreneurship in Windhoek with the aim to raise awareness of what it means to be a business founder in Namibia.

Opinion: Young people guide us towards a vibrant future

The phrase “young people are not the church of the future, they are the church of now” has been rumbling around my head and heart for the past few years.  I’m not sure where I heard it, or if I’ve merely morphed what others have said, but the sentiment expressed seems clearer to me with each passing year.

After the Masida encounter and indaba, the PLAN combatants headed for Nziba and Makanga villages. At Nziba, the ground for mobilisation for the liberation struggle was more fertile, as Moses Malamo Manowa’s father, Mzilikazi Manowa Madebela, was a resident there. It was partly to accomplish the liberation struggle mission and reunion with the father.

Opinion: Dreaming the size of Ovaherero/Ovambanderu unity… an open letter to our traditional leaders

With the recent US Supreme Court upholding of the dismissal of the genocide lawsuit by the US High Court, the Germany-Namibia deal regarding the “reparations” amount (which did not go down well with some of the leaders) and now the passing on of Ombara Otjitambi (Paramount Chief) Vekuii Rukoro due to Covid-19, everything that could go wrong seems to have gone wrong.

The pandemic has exposed long-standing gaps in public health, and it is time for lasting reforms, including tackling bureaucratic hurdles, which appear to have delayed the delivery of critical supplies such as medical oxygen.
