The mines and energy ministry last week Friday submitted an amount of N$212.4 million to the National Assembly for consideration and approval. The bulk of the funds – just over N$62 million – motivated by minister Tom Alweendo, is to be allocated to the Energy Security of Supply programme.

Mining industry recorded 14.5% negative growth in 2020
Initial growth projections for the local mining industry in 2020 stood at 11.1% but figures contained in the preliminary National Accounts released by the Namibia Statistics Agency indicated the industry actually recorded a negative growth rate of 14.5%.
