The total electricity bill consists of various components. Almost all electricity distributors charge basic monthly fees. The exception is the City of Windhoek for their Industrial Demand categories.

The main driver of clean energy investment is energy security rather than climate change. This is according to investment specialists, who have reported major increases in clean energy investment around the world.

NamPower is a state-owned national utility responsible for electricity generation, transmission and distribution to residual areas and cross-border electricity trading. 

Egypt is the only country in Africa constructing a nuclear power reactor today. In the 11 years after the Fukushima Diiachi nuclear power plant accident, 75 nuclear power reactors were constructed and connected to the grid.

Namibia still imports some 60% of its electricity needs from neighbouring countries. Despite this heavy reliance on external sources for its electricity needs, the energy ministry has set a target to reduce the import gap from the current 60% to only 20% by 2028.
