Former chief executive officer of liquidated NAMANGOL Investments, Nico Josea, who gained notoriety for his role in the Avid/SSC scam, has approached the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) for protection.
He is apparently afraid that his life could be in danger.
This was confirmed yesterday by the director of the NSHR, Phil ya Nangoloh, who told New Era that he advised Josea to approach the Namibian Police if he wants protection.
According to Ya Nangoloh, Josea apparently approached his office for personal protection as well as to seek advice regarding his rights.
“I explained to him his rights and what he was entitled to,” said Ya Nangoloh.
He said Josea came to his office alleging that his life was in danger and that he feared that “what happened to Lazarus Kandara might also happen to him,” said the NSHR director.
Josea, who allegedly lives in fear, was a central figure in the N$30 million Avid/SSC scam.
Asked why he feels his life was under threat, he apparently told the director of NSHR that wherever he goes people were telling him to be careful and that he would be ‘killed’ just like Kandara though an inquest had established Kandara killed himself.
He claims that certain people want to assassinate him before, or shortly after April 18, when he is expected to appear in court over the Avid/SSC case.
He believes that as a friend-in-business of the late Avid Investments Corporation chief executive officer, Kandara, he might have acquired considerable information, which might implicate some people involved in the Avid-SSC affair, said Ya Nangoloh.
Josea is currently on N$30??????’?????’?????????????
