“It is only by standing on the shoulders of Giants that I have seen further,” is a Sir Isaac Newton quote that was coined at the PMR Africa Awards function, which honoured Namibian business leaders and achievers this week, all of whom have contributed towards the economic growth and development of this country.

Upon this platform, an award breakfast meeting at the Windhoek Country Club,  saw the who’s who of the country’s business and corporate sectors turn up to proudly to accept their awards for achievements in competitiveness, effectiveness, excellence, leadership, customer service, managerial excellence, and corporate governance to mention some, which through the PMR country survey has ranked them as the best of the best.

Making a strong presence amongst these ‘giants’ were members of the commercial vehicle dealerships, motor vehicle dealerships,  the petroleum industry, road maintenance company’s, car rental companies, fleet services and related service providers to the automotive industry. This strong delivery was but a section of the estimated 100 categories which participated.

The top Commercial vehicle dealerships, who were presented was Pupkewitz Hino with the Diamond Award,M&Z Motors Commercial Vehicles took the Golden Arrow with  Pupkewitz Nissan Trucks UD was awarded Silver.

M&Z Motors Passengers division scooped the Diamond award in this category.  The Pupkewitz Motoring Division made a strong presence at the PMR awards, with all the dealers represented. In the Motor Vehicle Dealership Category Pupkewitz Toyota scooped Gold with Pupkewitz Nissan silver, while Autohaus Windhoek took home Bronze.

Avis Rent-A-Car and Avis Fleet Services each took Golden Arrow in their category. Another Diamond award was presented to Engen Namibia who took first place in the Petroleum/Diesel brands category, with Shell taking Silver overall.

Roads Authority was awarded Gold under the Roads Maintenance Companies category.

Speaking on behalf of Pupkewitz Motor Division, (MD) Junior Bruwer said he is delighted by the number of PMR awards the Pupkewitz Motor Division received.

“Receiving these awards is testimony to the great customer service and personalised attention our customers have grown accustomed to, whether it is buying a vehicle from Pupkewitz Motor Division, to the maintenance thereof.

 “We want to thank all our valued customers and all other stakeholders who played a part in nominating us for these prestigious awards.”

The Pupkewitz Group of Companies, the largest private trading house in Namibia received 12 awards in total, comprising four Diamonds, three Gold and five silver.

The ceremony was held by Professional Management Review Africa (PMR), a leading business information source for the subcontinent. The awards are the culmination of a research process in Africa whereby companies and institutions are rated, based on respondent’s perceptions with a strong focus on evaluating and measuring customer service and customer satisfaction. One of the primary objectives of the awards program is to raise the profile of companies and organisations that are committed to excellence.
