BA and Unam in top of the table clash

Home Sports BA and Unam in top of the table clash

WINDHOEK – It will be a Dawid vs Goliath affair when reigning MTC Premiership champions Black Africa welcomes Unam in a top of the table clash at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, tonight.

Both teams are unbeaten in the league so far and while the Namibian champions have dropped points, the Clever Boys are the only team in the bloated 16-team league with a perfect record after four rounds of matches in the country’s flagship football league.

Tonight’s clash of the titans provides the students with an acid test of character against Brian Isaacs’ undisputed champions.

Down at sea level, LHU Blue Waters and old foes Eleven Arrows continue their rivalry on the field when the two coastal giants square off in what promises to be an exciting coastal derby at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis-Bay, tomorrow.

The Birds will be without the suspended pair of skipper Gottlieb Nakuta and shot-stopper Julius Mutelo, but coach Paulus ‘Wire’ Shipanga is unfazed as he guns for the maximum 3-points at stake.

“It’s a must win match for us because we need a good result to regain our confidence after losing to Tigers. He adds that the league is very competitive and unpredictable – a defeat will see the club slide further down the log table.

“We don’t want to be in the precarious position of having to fight getting out of the relegation zone – we need to maintain momentum if we are to stay up there,” boasts the former Bidvest University (PSL) forward. His counterpart Dangi Hipundjua (Arrows) could not be reached for comment.

In tomorrow’s other action, Julinho entertains United Stars at the Rundu Stadium with newcomers Touch & Go hosting league returnees Benfica at the Otavi stadium.

The Sam Nujoma Stadium is the host venue for a triple-header that sees Citizens up against Civics in the opening match to be followed by the Tigers/ Rebels encounter. FNB Orlando Pirates completes the line up with a tie against the visiting Mighty Gunners.

In midweek action, African Stars kept their unbeaten run intact this term. Woody Jacobs’ brigade scored two unanswered goals against a stubborn Tura Magic outfit at the Sam Nujoma stadium. Asprilla Wermann and Jocelyn Kamatuka, netted a goal apiece for the triumphant Reds.
