Poly Babes and 21-Brigade United moved up the Women’s Super League (WSL) log table following favourable results, while Okahandja Beauties’ resurrection was halted by bad light and Tura Magic scored 18 against a hapless Java-Java Ladies this past weekend.

Poly Babes started the weekend in 5th place on 31 points and took advantage of their match on Saturday as they thrashed Windhoek City Girls 7-0 to move into 2nd place on 34 points, one point ahead of V-Power Angels, as well as Khomas Nampol Ladies (31-points) whose game at Okahandja Beauties was abandoned due to poor light on Saturday.

Brave Gladiators defender Lorraine Jossob scored three, Laurika Afrikaner two with one goal each from Kavereri Kahivirike and Josephine Selbes to lead Babes to victory against City Girls and for their 11th win of the season.

21 Brigade United too were big winners as they brushed aside basement dwellers Java-Java Ladies 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Having played to a 2-2 draw with the Galz & Goals on Saturday, United moved into 6th position on 23 points, replacing Goals, who now have 20 points.

In the 2-2 draw, veteran Brave Gladiator Stella Williams scored both goals for United with Anna Shaende and Julia Rutjindo on target for Girls.

At Okahandja on Sunday, Beauties hosted 5th placed Unam Bokkies where the Beauties who won their second game of the campaign 3-1 to increase their tally to eight points and move from 10th place to 9th, which was occupied by Omaheke Queens, whose game against United was postponed.

The Salome Iyambo-coached Beauties were to host Nampol on Saturday, but that game was called off due to poor light and will have to be rescheduled. Beauties have played only six games and have a lot of catching up to do.

Tura Magic won their 17th straight match of the season with a comprehensive 18-0 win over Java-Java ladies on Saturday for a flawless record to increase their points at the top of the table to 51. Action in the Super League will continue this coming weekend.
