“One of the best ways to try and achieve job-creation in Namibia is through the encouragement of entrepreneurship and hands-on training.”
So said the Managing Director of Standard Bank, Mpumzi Pupuman, when he officiated last week at the Valombolo Vocational Training Centre in Ongwediva.
“Fortunately, entrepreneurship is a skill that can be successfully developed, but only if the opportunity for training is provided. Youngsters today should also not focus on white-collar jobs only – they are few and far between and it is difficult to find work in the corporate world. But if you know how to use your hands by being a mechanic, electrician, bricklayer, you are halfway there. Furthermore, if you are prepared to work hard, offer great service and fair prices, there is nothing that will stand in your way of owning your own company or partnering with someone and being a success,” Pupuma said.
