Home Archived Bank Gives Students Bursaries

By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK Last week Bank Windhoek’s Learning and Development Centre’s Elize Fahl, Group HR Adviser (Capricorn Investment Holdings), handed over bursaries of N$15ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 851 to each of three students, it was announced in a press release. The beneficiaries have all completed their first year at the University of Namibia, or the Polytechnic of Namibia, in the fields of commerce, accounting and related fields of study. “We, at Bank Windhoek, are aware that Namibia continues to experience a shortage of knowledge in the business and commercial sectors. We also know that by contributing to education and training, we are in turn empowering people to rise up and take control in these sectors,” said Elize Fahl at the bursary handover. With the financial assistance from Bank Windhoek, the three students will be able to complete their studies, graduate and have the opportunity to find employment. The students who received Bank Windhoek bursaries for 2007 are: – Mr Nicky Mutenda of the University of Namibia, to complete his Bachelor of Commerce degree; – Ms Charlotte Tibinyane of the University of Namibia, to complete her Bachelor of Accounting degree; – Mr Gordon Coetzee of the Polytechnic of Namibia, to complete his National Diploma in Accounting and Finance. The bursary scheme is part of Bank Windhoek’s ongoing commitment towards social responsibility and the development of the Bank’s future human resources.
