The Bank of Namibia, in collaboration with the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), have teamed up to co-host the AFI Global Policy Forum (GPF) in September 2025 in Namibia.
This forum is expected to convene international thought leaders, policymakers and regulators to propel financial inclusion to the forefront of the global agenda.
This is in an endeavour to support economic resilience and growth. For the first time, Namibia will be spotlighting its strategic achievements in financial inclusion, giving prominence to the important role of policy innovations that have broadened financial services to individuals as well as micro, small and medium enterprises. The introduction of targeted frameworks and SME financing strategies has considerably contributed to integrating a larger segment of the population into the financial ecosystem.
The GPF, a key platform for global dialogue and collaboration, supports Namibia’s commitment to leveraging financial inclusion as an essential strategy for sustainable economic development and poverty alleviation.
It also establishes Namibia as a front-runner in deploying innovative financial solutions that are pivotal for regional and worldwide economic enhancement.
The forum is scheduled to attract over 700 delegates, including central banks, financial regulators, technology innovators and other international stakeholders.
It is aimed at facilitating a series of high-level discussions and peer learning opportunities.
The Bank of Namibia (BoN) affirmed that these engagements will focus on the creation and implementation of effective financial inclusion strategies that can be adopted globally. “The BoN eagerly anticipates fostering substantial discussions that drive progress in financial inclusion across the globe,” read a statement from BoN spokesperson Kazembire Zemburuka.
