By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK The Regional Councillor for the Oshakati East Constituency, Lotto Kuushomwa, recently opened a new branch for Bank Windhoek Oshakati North, it was announced in a press release. “In Namibia we need more proactive companies like Bank Windhoek that are willing to satisfy the needs of all Namibian citizens. I would like to congratulate Bank Windhoek for a job well done in expanding their branch network to all the corners of the country,” Kuushomwa said during the opening. The event took place at the Etango Shopping Centre, Shop Number 2. According to the release, by extending banking facilities to Oshakati North, Bank Windhoek is strengthening the development of the economy and trading potential for Oshakati. The inflow of money will lead to the inflow of goods and services, the economy will improve and the community will have the opportunity to form a long-term relationship with a truly Namibian bank. “Bank Windhoek has for many years now recognized the need for banking services in the more remote parts of the country and considers the provision of banking services in these areas of the country as an important contribution to the economic development and social upliftment of the communities here,” said AndrÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘ÃÆ”šÃ‚© Nel, executive officer of Retail Banking Services of Bank Windhoek at the official opening. The Oshakati North branch is the ninth branch that Bank Windhoek has opened up as part of its expansion to the Far North and Deep South of Namibia. “This expansion has been partly funded by the British Government, through its Department for International Development (DFID) as part of its Financial Deepening Challenge Fund (FDCF). Bank Windhoek was awarded a grant from the FDCF, sponsored by the British Government’s agency DFID. The fund assisted the bank in extending the branch network to rural communities in Namibia,” said Nel. The Oshakati North branch will be run by Juliana von Solms who can be contacted at Tel.
