By Staff Reporter

WINDHOEK – Bank Windhoek has awarded bursaries to four Namibian students studying at recognised institutions in South Africa. The bursaries, worth a combined value of N$270 915, will cover the cost of tuition, prescribed textbooks, registration fees and examination fees. However, the bank noted that accommodation fees are only considered in highly exceptional cases.

“Bank Windhoek’s Bursary Scheme not only aims to address the skills shortage in the banking sector, but also to assist talented and deserving students whose parents are unable to afford their education to realise their dreams of a tertiary education,” said Elize Fahl, Executive Officer: Group Human Resources at Bank Windhoek.

This year’s recipients bring to 45 the number of students who have benefited from Bank Windhoek’s Bursary Scheme since its inception 15 years ago.

The 2015 bursary recipients are Ndapandula M Nangombe (Postgraduate Diploma: Internal Audit, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University), Christiana Namoonde (BCom. Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, University of Pretoria), Dian Von Solms (BCom. Economic and Risk Management, North West University of Potchefstroom) and Jason Akwenye, LLB Degree, University of Pretoria.
