Windhoek

The season opening tournament of the Bank Windhoek Fistball League will take place on Saturday, February 13 following a three and a half month break.

Bank Windhoek confirmed the renewal of its sponsorship for the 2016 season to the Fistball Association of Namibia on Wednesday.
After a successful 9th place at the 2015 Men’s World Cup in Argentina, national team players will try to make their experiences count at their respective clubs.

Matches will be played in two categories. The top class category A will feature four teams, two each from CFC and SKW. Swakopmund oufit SFC will unfortunately not enter a team in the highest category this year.

Defending champions SKW 1 will face tough competition from the eternal rivals CFC 1 who defended their national cup last year and will try to build on that. With Rico Kühnle-Kreitz who moved from Imawida to Cohen, the Blues could be in for a surprise.
Teams from SKW, CFC and SFC will contest category B. After about 10 years of being a dominant force in the B category, winning almost every trophy every year, it will be a very tough year ahead for CFC 3.

Spiker Michael Baas, record national player, will move down from SKW 2 to support SKW 3 and may initiate a twist.
Even SFC may pose a danger to these two giants as they will have some of their A category players available due to the fact that they don’t have a team anymore in the A category.
Exciting times expected in July

Cohen Fistball Club will celebrate their 50th birthday which features festivities and a tournament from July 1-3.
The newly formed South African national team is expected to pay a visit, which then allows for the first ever international match between Namibia and South Africa. A team from Germany also showed their interest to participate. Action gets underway at the SKW fields at 08h30 with the finals slated for 16h00.
