The Capricorn Foundation, in partnership with Bank Windhoek, celebrated its first group of graduates from the Emerging Bankers Programme on Friday.
The event marked the successful completion of 18 months of intensive training, hands-on experience and job placements for nine young Namibians in various rural Bank Windhoek branches across the country.
Launched in 2024 with N$1 million in funding from the Capricorn Foundation, a Section 21 Company and a registered welfare organisation, the Bank Windhoek Emerging Bankers Programme is an initiative under the bank’s Young Talent Development Programme. It was created to build a talent pipeline from Namibia’s rural communities and small towns, where school-leavers often struggle to find employment and training opportunities.
“At the Capricorn Group, developing talent is both a strategic priority and a responsibility. We are passionate about connecting people and opportunities to create lasting value for our communities because we believe that the future of our Group and industry depends on the people we nurture today.
“The graduates represent the next generation of bankers who will redefine excellence, innovation and service in Namibia’s financial landscape. We need leaders who can adapt to change, understand people and uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism,” said Capricorn Group CEO David Nuyoma.
At the event, Anna Haikali, a graduate from the Ondangwa branch, said, “When I joined the programme, I was curious but unsure of what to expect. I joined the Bank Windhoek Ondangwa Branch. What I discovered was more than just training. It was a community that believed in us and our potential. -newsroom@nepc.com.na
