Bank Windhoek is Bank of the Year

Bank Windhoek has been named the “Bank of the Year: Namibia 2025” by The Banker Magazine, a leading financial intelligence publication from the esteemed Financial Times group.

This prestigious accolade, widely regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence globally, marks the fourth time Bank Windhoek has received this international recognition.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, in London, United Kingdom.

The Banker’s ‘Bank of the Year’ awards are judged on a rigorous, data-driven methodology that assesses a bank’s ability to deliver returns, gain strategic advantage and serve its market. Bank Windhoek successfully demonstrated exceptional performance across four key pillars: Financial Strength, Digital Innovation, Service Excellence, and Sustainable Development.

James Chapman, Bank Windhoek’s managing director, emphasised the significance of the award: “To be recognised on a global stage by The Banker Magazine is an immense honour and a validation of our strategy. This award affirms our commitment to shaping a modern and resilient, truly Namibian bank that contributes to Namibia’s growth and shared prosperity.”

Key areas of recognition by The Banker judges included Digital Leadership and Innovation, Facial Biometrics for Security and Access, a Digital Transformation Programme, as well as Financial Inclusion and Service Excellence.

Bank Windhoek’s Selekt Red Offering, which serves over 60% of the Bank’s customer base, was lauded for promoting financial inclusion. The bank added that sustainability and national leadership was a decisive factor.

“The formalisation of the annual Sustainability Loan offering was highlighted for its accessibility to all client segments, including individuals and SMEs, to fund small-scale, high-impact projects that contribute to a greener, more inclusive economy,” Bank Windhoek stated.
