Bank Windhoek and Swakopmund Municipality have entered into a partnership whereby the bank will provide training to prospective entrepreneurs, as well as established informal traders.

Subsequent to initial training done earlier this year by Bank Windhoek, some of the participants were selected to undergo more intensive training, where the participants are put through a business simulation exercise for four days.

Participants were amongst others equipped with knowledge of how the basic business cycle works, marketing, business planning, negotiation and how to build strong relationships.

In this intensive course, which took place last week, 16 participants started the training, but eventually only eight completed the training. After the training, participants will join a sustainability group, where they can share their successes and challenges.
“Bank Windhoek will continue to create opportunities for those entrepreneurs that want to learn more and increase their chances of success. However, it is up to each individual to recognise the opportunity and then to grab those opportunities.

“Bank Windhoek will also continue to seek partnerships with the various towns, and if there are town councils interested in this partnership, they can contact us anytime”, said Riaan van Rooyen, Bank Windhoek’s head of corporate affairs, strategy and sustainability.
