Beauties FC seal WSL title

Beauties FC seal WSL title

Beauties clinched the First National Bank Women’s Super League title with a match to spare after defeating Windhoek City 1-0 at the Namibia Football Association Technical Centre on Sunday.

They dethroned Ongos Ladies, formerly known as Tura Magic Ladies, which secured a total of five Namibia Women’s Super League titles. Their championship victories occurred in the following seasons: 2017, 2018, 2022/23 and 2023/24.

JS Academy were winners in 2015.

Head coach of the team Salome Iyambo said they are delighted to have secured the title with a match to spare.

“This marks our 13th league title since 2003 – a truly remarkable achievement, especially considering the interruptions of the league in 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Reclaiming our glory is both emotional and fulfilling.

“This triumph is a testament to the resilience, patience and relentless hard work of everyone involved with Beauties.

After finishing third and second in the last two seasons during a challenging transitional period following the Fifa Normalisation process, we stayed committed to our long-term vision, and believed in the process.

“I am incredibly proud of how the team responded. Winning the league is special, but doing so while also having produced the league’s top goal-scorer with a historic 57 goals and the best goalkeeper of the 2023/24 season is extraordinary. These accolades highlight not only individual brilliance but also the collective strength and unity of this group as we look forward to this year’s awards. The girls wanted it since day one, and they’ve delivered the task efficiently.

“Being part of this space, currently, is an honour. This title is a fantastic reward for the tireless effort of our players, technical team and the broader Beauties FC supporters,” she stated.

She added that although with huge financial constraints and no sponsor for the club, they are determined and proud to represent Namibian women’s football at the next regional level (CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifiers).

They will continue striving for excellence on and off the pitch.
