Benjamin acknowledges circulating player list

Benjamin acknowledges circulating player list

Brave Warriors’ head coach Collin Benjamin yesterday acknowledged a list circulating on social media, highlighting nearly 40 Namibian players plying their trade in various leagues across the globe.

He expressed appreciation for the author of the list, and discussed what he looks at when selecting players.

Benjamin noted the variety in leagues, the divisions, and playing time accorded to players in these leagues.

“I applaud the young men going out chasing their dreams. I wish them all the very best. They are ambassadors of Namibia. They should be aware of that. As a coach, I look at factors like the level of the division, whether the player is playing regularly, and the character of the player – what he can bring to the team for success in that specific assignment,” he noted.

As the Warriors prepare for their next challenge, Benjamin is expected to announce his provisional training squad for the Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Malawi and Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.

The Brave Warriors kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in November 2023.

The results are as follows:

15 November 2023: Away against Equatorial Guinea: 1-0 win

19 November 2023: Home against São Tomé and Príncipe: 2-0 win

5 June 2024: Home against Liberia: 1-1

9 June 2024: Home against Tunisia: 0-0
