She was strong willed and outspoken. He was relaxed and easy going. Over the past 56 days viewers of BIG BROTHER MZANSI SECRETS have grown familiar with the Capetonians but during Sunday’s live eviction show on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161), the 25-year-old customer care professional Lexi and the 29-year-old warehouse clerk Poolie became the latest evictees from the 63 day reality series, which is just seven days away from giving away a R 1 million winner prize!
Showcasing the talent of DreamTeam with Tsekede and Thembi Seete with Thuntsha Lerole, the hour-long show also included an insert that saw last week’s evictees, Mzamo and Thando, fittingly head off to a busy Joburg ten pin bowling venue to have some fun! Having both received strikes in the house for conspiracy, they were in their element as they tried to get in some good strikes on the polished lanes. Closer than ever, the pals reflected on what they had learned in the house, their reaction to realising they’ve got fans and their hopes for life after BB. Thando confessed that among the things she enjoyed in the house, she loved the comfort of having personal trainers come to her. She also spoke on the Buzzer Game, saying that it provided her with one of her most important lessons that sometimes you need to be more decisive because your moment is not going to come again. Mzamo shared that he had had a lot of positive response and that he’s learned to be more tolerant, more understanding and less judgemental.
After a quick recap of the last week including Sol’s immunity win that saw him re-united with Kat in the pamper palace known as Suite 501, host Lungile Radu chatted with former Big Brother Canada cutie Emmett, whose entertaining four-day stay in the Big Brother Mzansi house ended emotionally on Thursday. The straight-talking Emmett revealed what he thought of the house and the Housemates on stage, saying that he’s been spending time outside of the house taking in the ‘sights of this wonderful country!’ He also explained what he felt were the differences between the Canada and Mzansi editions saying that the difference is in the way the game is played. He also revealed in the Canadian version, because the public doesn’t have as much power as in the Mzansi version, he thinks that there’s more conniving in the North American game. Commenting on the Housemates he said that there were some great housemates though some stand out more than others, while some are just floating along. He felt that one of his jobs was to put a bit of fear into them because ‘there’s a lot of money on the line.’
Lungile reminded viewers of Loko’s win in the latest Head of House challenge which saw her win a bonus prize, a holiday package for two, valued at R 50 000. Meanwhile, Lungile also took a moment to bring viewers up to speed on the past weekend in the Big Brother house, including the Saturday night party with DJ Shimza. He then crossed over to the house, where he instructed the four nominated Housemates (Iris, Lexi, Mandla and Poolie) to make their way to the Party Room.
With a double nomination on the cards, Lungile was quick to make the eviction announcements after receiving the results from the auditing firm of SizweNtsalubaGobodo. After a tense few moments, Poolie was revealed as the first person to be evicted from the house. Heading out onto stage, dressed in a suit and tie, he blew kisses to Loko and said simply, ‘I love you babe.’ Watching his highlights he smiled when seeing himself and Loko on screen.
But the drama of the night was not over as yet. Back to the Party Room and Lungile announced that Iris was safe, sending Mandla and Lexi straight into each other’s arms. Then Lungile made the eviction announcement and this time round it was Lexi, whose turn it was to make her final walk out of the Big Brother house as Mandla looked on. On stage, she told the handsome presenter that there was no relationship with Mandla, just a friendship. At the crowd’s sounds of disapproval she said, ‘you guys were not in the house.’ She went on to say that she liked Mandla as a person and would miss him terribly, but confessed that given it’s a game, it’s hard to know what is genuine.
With Lexi and Poolie out of the game, there are six Housemates remaining in the race for the R 1 million prize. They are: IRIS, KAT, LOKO, MANDLA, MK and SOL and the decision of just who will take the money home lies entirely in the hands of the show’s viewers.
