WINDHOEK – With the nation already in a celebratory mood ahead of Namibia’s 25th independence celebrations on March 21, when the country will officially swear in its 3rd democratically elected president, the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy is joining the party mood by hosting a boxing bonanza.
On the day before the independence anniversary, boxing fans will be treated to a night of blistering action led by crowd favourites Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses, Betuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona, Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo, Martin ‘Black Poison’ Haikali, Japhet ‘Thin Man’ Uutoni, Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro, Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala and Walter ‘Executioner’ Kautondokwa, to mention a few.
According to popular boxing promoter, Nestor Tobias, fans can expect fireworks on the evening of Friday, March 20, as they intend to entertain spectators with action by local fighters against their international opponents.
“We have always commemorated every one of our independence celebrations by hosting a boxing bonanza, which I think is one of the best ways to pay our respect to past and present heroes. This will also be the first event for the Academy for the year, so it will be very attractive and right up there,” said Tobias.
“We are committed to giving our fans the best independence gift with the ultimate aim of showing our appreciation for the support they have given us throughout the years. We therefore want fans to come out in numbers and enjoy world-class boxing. Boxing is a good form of entertainment, that is why we put in a lot of effort when organizing such events,” said Tobias.
