By Kuvee Kangueehi WINDHOEK All the big guns left in the Mobile Telecommunication Limited (MTC) Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup avoided each other in the quarterfinals draw, which took place at Soccer House yesterday. Traditional powerhouses Black Africa FC and Orlando Pirates were given relatively easy draws while African Stars have been pitted against old foes Cymot SKW for the matches scheduled to be played on 31 March at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati. Orlando Pirates will face Eleven Brothers while Black Africa will face Mighty Gunners, the latter coached by its former winger Dawid ‘Fella’ Snewe. Mighty Gunners have so far been enjoying a good run in the competition and appear to be the strongest non-premier league side in the competition. The Gunners, who are in a strong position to join the premier league next season, swiped aside Volcano by 5-1 to book their place in the quarterfinals and will definitely be a tricky opponent for Black Africa. The match presents a perfect opportunity for Snewe to embarrass his former employers. But Black Africa have shown since the beginning of the competition that they really mean business. The Lively Lions, as they are known, so far scored five goals in the two games, first beating Blue Waters 5-3 and on Saturday beating Major Power 5-0. With their free scoring striker Jerome Louis on song, getting past Mighty Gunners could just be a formality. African Stars’ clash with Cymot SKW will be an interesting affair. Although most of the encounters between the two sides have ended in draws or were won by small margins, Stars will have the upper hand in this game. The Samba Boys are in a confident mood after battling past Oshakati City last weekend and now have a renewed belief that they can win the cup. The last meeting between the two sides ended in a goalless draw but Stars believe that they can overcome Cymot SKW as they have beaten them in previous cup competitions, the most recent victory a 3-0 win in the First National Bank Cup. But all eyes will be on giant killers Eleven Arrows who are enjoying an exceptional run in the competition so far. Arrows, who eliminated two-time champions Civics FC, have every reason to sound bullish and Arrows official Gabriel Tjombe said the good results are no fairy tale and his team is ready to heap the same misery on Ramblers as they did against Civics FC.
