Bitter sweet life….

Home Youth Corner Bitter sweet life….

I came across a quote by an anonymous speaker online a few days ago that read “my life is one big awkward moment”.

It kept replaying in my head and I thought it was amusing. Life really is an awkward moment, one moment you are falling of a chair, the next moment you get a surprise visit from a beloved one, the next day you are stuck in traffic and thinking of what you are going to say to your teacher or boss to get away with punishment. Life is a mysterious journey and often events present themselves in a way we least expected. We are never assured of what tomorrow holds. There is so much that we do not know and I believe it is the best that way because curiosity drives us to explore the world and ourselves, and for us discover greatness that we could have never discovered if we knew it all.
One minute you are having the best time of your life, in another you are on your lowest. But I also know one thing, for us to live life to the fullest, we must experience good and not-so-good moments. We must know what it feels like to be sad to know how it feels to be happy. One can never know what greatness is if they have never seen bad moments. In all our work and endeavours, we encounter challenges and sometimes they really do take a toll on us. But imagine a situation where we could have everything we desire the easy way; we would not be so satisfied with the results compared to if we had sweat for them. People celebrate their graduation ceremonies, weddings and many other achievements in life because they feel they overcame all the odds that could have ruined it. Life is meant to have ups and downs so that we can have great satisfaction when we experiences the great moments.
As we are approaching the end of 2014, I would like all of us to look back and praise ourselves for all the odds we have beaten this year. All of us have done something good this year, even if it was small and we deserve to be proud of ourselves. If you feel you were on your lowest this year, make it your mission to be on your highest next year. Talk to someone you trust about the challenges you are facing, and see if they can help. You will never know if you can get help if you do not look for it. Life is not perfect but that does not mean you should be feeling down throughout. Let us use the one month we have remaining to get ourselves in the positive lane so we can start 2015 on a clean slate. Days come and go, good days come and go, and so are the bitter days. All we need is faith to get through all of these.
