Black Africa about to lose the goose that lays the golden eggs

Home Sports Black Africa about to lose the goose that lays the golden eggs

WINDHOEK – The customary status quo in the annals of the domestic flagship football league is likely to remain unchanged when the MTC Premiership finally gets underway after an enforced prolonged hiatus.

Undisputed Namibian champions Black Africa Football Club, looks a certain bet to retain their title and rewrite the history books for the umpteenth time to claim five back to back league titles, their fifth on the trot.

While fiercest title rivals African Stars have been locked in boardrooms for the better part of the close season, Brian Isaacs’ Gemengde-based outfit has been reasonably active in the transfer market in an effort to beef up their already star-studded squad.

BA has brought on board speedy winger Penehas ‘Heel Extension’ Jakob, in anticipation of Awilo Stephanus’ mooted departure to the stinking rich South African Professional Soccer League (PSL).

The recently crowned 2013/2014 MTC Premiership Player of the Year, has been undoubtedly Black Africa’s most influential player during the club’s four year dominance in domestic football.

The adorable tricky winger rose to prominence when he almost single handedly propelled the Namibian Under-20 team to the final of the annual COSAFA Youth Cup in Botswana.

Another impressive display in the Senior COSAFA Cup last year, earning him a trial with PSL outfit Bloemfontein alongside BA and Warriors teammate, Denzil Haoseb, but the move fell through.

Stephanus is reported to have been training with PSL side Maritzburg United in recent weeks with a view of landing a long overdue professional contract but details about his move across the Orange River remains sketchy.
