With a huge inlet of 11 points separating them from MTC Premiership log leaders Tigers, Black Africa’s mentor, Woody Jacobs, will be left with no choice this weekend but to apply all the arts in the old book of tricks in the hope of collecting maximum points.
In their last two outings, second-placed Black Africa dropped three vital points when they lost 2-0 to Young Chiefs before recording a consolatory 1-0 win over Rundu Chiefs the next day – a scenario that put them in a tight corner, given the fact that table toppers Tigers won all their matches the following weekend to send them 11 points clear at the top.
Now faced with the daunting task of ensuring that maximum points are collected when they face two equally determined teams, Unam FC and Tura Magic, tomorrow and on Sunday, coach Jacobs will fully be expected to avenge all their recent misfortunes on either Unam or Magic and hopefully jumpstart BA’s league title race.
But as much as Black Africa need those six points at stake, they are not the only ones in dire need, as both Unam and Magic are also desperately in search of wins to boost their somewhat ailing campaigns, as well as to boost the morale of the players.
Coach Jacobs, therefore, has the dice in his hand this weekend, as victory in both matches appears to be the only remedy to soothe their hard-to-please supporters at this stage of the campaign. Reassuring supporters that Black Africa are still serious title contenders would be another item on the team’s agenda going into this weekend.
