The lunacy of the Covid-19 pandemic may have thrown new music releases into chaos, but that is not the case for local musician Black Dice Salaam, who just released his second album titled ‘Calling the shots’.

After being left alone in the music group Black Dice by his former members, who would have thought Black Dice Salaam will pick up momentum and continue?

Black Dice Salaam, real name Jason Andreas, is back with a 19-track album, which is one of the newly released albums to look out for this season.

Produced under his record label ‘The great Salaam Nation’, ‘Calling the shots’ features some familiar names in the industry such as Neslow, D-Kandjafa and Zomblam, who all did justice to the collaborations.

‘Calling the shots’ is produced by some of the highly decorated names in the industry: Andrew on the beat, Bexxa Carter, M-Jay and Chucky Beats.

Speaking to VIBEZ!, the Kwaito star noted that the title of the album aims to give hope to all Kwaito music lovers not to let the genre die out.

“Kwaito remains relevant, and will never die for as long as Black Dice Salaam is alive,” he said, adding that local music lovers have diverted their attention to emerging international genres such as Amapiano and house music.

“We represent the Kasi still. ‘Calling the shots’ furthermore means that we are in charge of the music industry more than ever before,” he noted.

The ‘Uushimba’ hitmaker describes his album as versatile and different from his previous album released last year.

“My current album is different from my previous one because I have featured different artists and used different producers, compared to last year. The sound is different, and it has the old kwaito style,” he said.

Popularly known for creating a unique depth in his music, Black Dice Salaam said he also did a cover version of ‘Mama I’m sorry’ by the late iconic singer Brenda Fassie, and has shot two music videos that are available on YouTube.

With the entertainment industry put on hold indefinitely because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Black Dice Salaam said that won’t stop him from making more music.

“We have been highly affected by the pandemic. Live shows and events are cancelled; our main customers, bar owners and bus drivers are also not operating, but we will survive with the little that we make,” he continued.

The singer further announced that he is currently working on another project set to be released next year in June.

‘Calling the shots’ is available on order, and fans can contact him on his number 0813182919 or jblackdice@gmail.com.
