Football enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend, as they have an overabundance of matches to choose from, with over 10 games scheduled for this weekend in the Debmarine Premiership.
The excitement has already kicked off, with a few games taking place yesterday.
Today’s action features Civics, currently holding the 10th spot on the standings, facing off against Okakarara Young Warriors, who are positioned 14th.
In another showdown, the sixth-placed Tigers aim to secure maximum points as they go head-to-head with the struggling Julinho Sporting, currently placed 13th in the standings. The Young Brazilian team will hit the field, determined to clinch maximum points in their match against Chula Chula, currently holding the fifth position.
Meanwhile, Young African, based in Gobabis and currently ranked seventh, will battle it out against fourth-placed Blue Waters.
The current defending champions and runners-up in this year’s Dr Hage Geingob Cup, African Stars, will face off against Life Fighters. In an interview with this publication yesterday, Fortune Eichab, the head coach of Khomas Nampol, shared insights into his team’s readiness for the upcoming encounters.
He expressed confidence, stating, “It’s going to be an exciting weekend. We have a tough match against Mighty Gunners, akin to a derby. They are a formidable team, consistently ranking in the top five for the past few years. We also play against Chula Chula, a good team but not as significant as the match against Gunners. They are a new team in the league – just like us, and I don’t foresee any major challenges facing them”.
Sunday’s action promises to maintain the thrill, with high-flying Khomas Nampol taking on Chula Chula at Independence Stadium. Civics will then clash with Julinho Sporting in the second match of the day.
Log leaders FC Ongos will compete against Blue Waters at the same venue.
Meanwhile, at Legare Stadium in Gobabis, Young African will welcome Okahandja United in another exciting match.
African Stars will face off against Unam at Nau-Aib Stadium, while Young Brazilians will host Mighty Gunners at Keetmanshoop Showground Stadium.
Wrapping up the weekend will be a match between Tigers and Okakarara Young Warriors at Independence Stadium.
