The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy will once again entertain boxing fans during Namibia’s independence celebrations.
Headlining the Independence Boxing Bonanza will be the unbeaten Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo, who will defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior welterweight title against Allan Kamote from Tanzania over 12 rounds at the Windhoek Country Club on March 19.
Indongo boasts an impressive record of 18 fights and 18 wins, while the challenger Kamote comes in with much experience complemented by a record of 38 fights, 26 wins, 8 losses and 4 draws.
Indongo is currently rated number 6 by the WBO and a win will move him into the top 4 rankings, which might give him an opportunity to fight for the world title eliminator.
“This fight is of paramount importance for Julius because we want him to be eligible to fight anybody in the top 4 for a final eliminator to the world title. If he wins the final eliminator, he will then become the mandatory challenger, which means the current world champion must fight him under the WBO rules,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.
“Our focus is however the challenge ahead of us, which is to defeat Kamote. We encourage all Namibians to come out in numbers to support the event – but most importantly, also to celebrate Namibian sport and its achievements.”
Tickets are already on sale at all Computicket outlets countrywide. VIP tables sell for N$10 000 while general tickets sell for N$100.
