Bok set for epic showdown

Bok set for epic showdown

Namibian mixed martial artist Geraldo Bok is set to showcase his skills this Saturday when he takes on South African opponent James ‘JJ’ Karagiannidis in the featherweight division at Versus Fight Night 13, scheduled to take place at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, South Africa.

Bok, who trains out of Kosoto MMA in Windhoek, carries a professional amateur record of six fights, with three wins and three losses. His opponent, Karagiannidis, enters the octagon with a slightly more experienced amateur record of seven fights, boasting five wins and two losses.

Speaking ahead of the bout, Bok expressed confidence in his preparation, and praised the team behind him.

“Preparations have gone well. My team at Kosoto MMA have prepped me well, and I’ve made use of the best strength and conditioning services with my friend and strength and conditioning coach Garren Smith, as well as Sinaed van Niekerk from the Windhoek Pro Sports Performance Academy,” he said.

The highly-anticipated main card will be headlined by a thrilling catchweight professional bout between Angola’s Aureo Cruz and South Africa’s Khanyo Maqam. Adding to the excitement, South African flyweights Obakeng Mahura and Daniel James will battle for the division title. In the lightweight category, Junior Mqadi will go head-to-head with TJ Esterhuizen, while Cuban fighter Fabian Capote will lock horns with South African Quinton Deyzel.

Fans can also look forward to an exciting undercard featuring both male and female fighters, promising an action-packed night of MMA across multiple divisions. -lmupetami@nepc.com.na
