EENHANA – Botswana house music maestro, DJ Etrofa, is performing at the Chez Ntemba club in Katima Mulilo tomorrow.
DJ Etrofa is one of the biggest names in both house and traditional Silozi music in Botswana and has managed to establish a huge fan base in the Zambezi region. He has over ten years’ experience as a radio DJ, which adds to his flavour whenever he takes to the turntables. The Chez Ntemba bash in Katima Mulilo, which has been dubbed “The Invasion Show”, is one of the most anticipated events awaiting house and traditional music fans in Katima since the Christmas Summer festival last December
DJ Etrofa has released two singles which are rocking revelers and listeners alike on Botswana radio airwaves and Katima Mulilo night clubs. The singles Chikave Civombe and Dame Cigoma literally meaning “beat the big drum” are popular with his fans in the Zambezi region hence his performance tomorrow which is by public demand. Show organiser and Manager of Chez Ntemba-Katima Mulilo, Sylvester Simubali, says the popular Botswana DJ will battle it out with other notable DJs from Kasane town such as DJ Sorry Mix, whose single, Chibuku, is also receiving fair airplay on the Silozi Language Service of the NBC. “Apart from these DJs turning the tables, we have lined up and will give an opportunity to upcoming artists from Zambezi region, and this time we have our own Chase who will also perform at this event. As an upcoming musician here, we have taken a decision to promote Chase’s music latest songs from his album Sandy which has hit sings such as Misunga Ifelile, Hosaka Kusesa buze bakale and Chuchu Wabule, Simubali says
DJ Etrofa has even added the event to his upcoming gigs on his website. “As an event management company now with a branch here in Katima Mulilo, our aim is to bring top entertainment artists from the SADC region and make sure that the Zambezi bream town becomes one of the vibrant entertainment hub that is why we brought DJ Etrofa this weekend,” he explains.
The show starts in the evening until the wee hours of Sunday morning. There will be supporting acts from DJs such as DJ Nono and DJ Mkhankhara from Zambia and DJ Mkhankhara who is also known for his exquisite skills on the deck.
Sandy-Sandy Ndereki, a big follower of DJ Etrofa from Kasane posted on Face-book that he will travel to Katima for the show since it’s been a long time since the artist relocated to the capital city of Gaborone. “I can’t wait for the show and will definitely travel to Katima Mulilo for the weekend. Entertainment keeps us young and this is proper for Katima Mulilo,” he posted. Damage for the show is N $ 50 and there will tight security.
