Michelle Crawford, the marketing manager at Namibia Bowling Association, says the recent National Bowling Championship held in Tsumeb, lived up to the organiser’s expectations.
The event was held over the weekend, where over 100 bowlers convened to battle it out for top honours in various categories. The annual tournament was attended by various bowling champions from across the country.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, Crawford said she was impressed with the level of competition and how the competition unfolded. “The event truly lived up to our expectations and everything went according to plan. From the smooth running of fixtures to the quality of play, we were very satisfied with how things unfolded. The level of participation and support was encouraging, and it was wonderful to see both experienced bowlers and new faces enjoying the competition. As Namibia Bowling, we are proud of the standard we set, and we look forward to building on this success for future events,” she said.
Crawford said that although the event did not have any international participation, she believes Namibian bowlers came out and showcased how good they are as players. She added that the tournament will also play a major role in international competition preparations.
“The high-level competition at this event is exactly what our players need to prepare for international tournaments. Facing strong opponents locally helps them sharpen their skills, build confidence, and understand the intensity required to compete on the global stage. Events like this are crucial in developing athletes who can represent Namibia proudly abroad,” she added.
She further urged fans to support the sport discipline, “We hope that fans continue to support Namibia Bowling in future events. Their energy and encouragement make a real difference for our players, and seeing spectators cheer them on motivates athletes to perform at their best. The sport thrives when the community is involved, and we want everyone to feel part of our journey as we aim for higher levels of competition,” said Crtawford.
