WINDHOEK – Following an absence of almost three years from competitive boxing, Namibia’s lightweight boxer Jatoorora ‘Sting’ Tjingaveta says he is in the best shape of his life and will float like a butterfly and sting like a bee when he takes on Samuel Kapapu over eight rounds in the main supporting bout of the much anticipated Oshikango Boxing Bonanza on Saturday in that town.
Tjingaveta, who boasts a record of 15 wins and 4 losses from 19 fights, has vowed to leave no stone unturned when he confronts Kapapu, who has a record of 12 wins and 6 losses from 18 fights, in what promises to be sparkling encounter between the two youthful boxers.
The lanky pugilist, who only started serious training in January this year says he is confident of a victory against Kapapu, adding that he is now hungrier for a win than his opponent. “ My style of boxing is very different from Kapapu’s because I’m fast and skillful and always on the move but Kapapu is a dormant boxer who only stands and waits for an opportunity to bang his opponent,” said Tjingaveta.
The former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa lightweight champion also expressed his desire for more fights, saying he wants to keep himself busy for the remainder of the year. “ I want more fights because I have really been out of action for quite some time now but I will just wait for my promoter and see what he has in store for me but I know more good fights are coming.”
Also in action on Saturday evening will be Sakaria Lukas who takes on Emmanuel Simbeye in a featherweight six-rounder, while Lazarus Namalambo trades leather with Whitty Swartbooi in the junior lightweight division over four rounds.
In the junior middleweight division, Welter Kuutondokwa takes on Moabi Mothiba from Botswana over four rounds, while Onesmus Nekundi trades blows with compatriot Simon Johannes in a bantamweight four-rounder. Johannes ‘Blue Sticks’ Mathews will rumble it out against Abner Mwafangeyo in the super bantamweight division over four rounds.
Junior lightweight boxer Manfred Haimbanga fights Immanuel Andreki and Simon Shafandino confronts Kapena Hamunyela in the welterweight division, while Emmanuel Mungandjela and Sabby Sheuyange complete the night’s line-up with their junior welterweight fight.
