Deputy chairperson of the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) for Africa and Asia Samir Captan has endorsed MTC Sunshine Promotions and its promoter, Nestor Tobias, as the leading promoter on the entire African continent.

“We are very happy with the fashion in which the MTC Sunshine Promotions manages its affairs, always professional,” he said. Captan could not heap enough praises on MTC Nestor Sunshine Promotions, confidently stating that without an iota of doubt the academy is the leading boxing promoter in Africa at the moment.

The internationally acclaimed boxing guru made the remarks during the face-off day prior to a series of bouts, dubbed ‘No Mercy Part 5’, under the stewardship of the -revered MTC Sunshine Academy.

The fights saw Paulus ‘the Hitman’ Moses getting the better of South African opponent Thomson Mokwana last Saturday night.
The dethroned Namibian world champion dominated the contest to claim the new WBO Africa Lightweight title.

“I know it’s extremely difficult to organise boxing fights as a promoter, because it is very expensive, since the promoter is responsible for all the costs. Putting five title fights on one card does not happen often and not many promoters around the globe can achieve what MTC Sunshine Promotions are achieving and this is therefore commendable,” charged Captan.

“I’m extremely humbled by the remarks from the WBO,” Tobias responded. “MTC Sunshine Academy has worked very closely with the WBO for many years now and you would recall the academy was honoured with the “Best Promoter in Africa” award for three consecutive years.

Tobias believes the gesture is testimony to the quality and potential of the academy and was delighted in thanking his main sponsor, MTC, and the fans for the support the academy has enjoyed from all stakeholders over the years.

“Boxing is an expensive sport, but also a very exciting one and we will continue to promote the sport in the interest of the boys and the country”, remarked Tobias.

Meanwhile, the annual WBO Convention is slated for Puerto Rico next month.
