Namibian Business Hall of Fame (NBHF) held its induction ceremony for the 2022 nominees on Saturday night in the capital. Since 2004, each year, the NBHF honours entrepreneurs and business leaders who continue to set outstanding and exemplary leadership in contribution to national development goals and the socio-economic development of Namibia.

This year, NBHF inducted a distinguished group of 15 entrepreneurs and corporate business leaders in their respective portfolios. The nominated selected categories include emerging entrepreneurs, Laureate and honorary Laureate as well as special awards.

NBHF is part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) initiative by the Global Entrepreneurs Network (GEN) Namibia which aims to celebrate the global impact of entrepreneurship and encourage especially women and youth entrepreneurs to take a leap into the rewarding and thrilling journey of entrepreneurship.

Delivering her keynote address, trade minister Lucia Iipumbu said it is ideal to duly recognise and acknowledge some entrepreneurs and professionals who strive to keep steering their business ships despite numerous challenges confronting the world.

“The ministry strongly believes that entrepreneurship plays a significant role in job creation, which ultimately leads to economic growth and development. The broader picture is that entrepreneurs directly impact the economy through growth, innovation, and capital infusion while indirectly transforming the economy by improving social inclusion, creating large-scale employment and improving the standards of living of our citizens,” the trade minister stated.

Some of the 2022 nominees include: Martha Uumati (Erongo Marine Enterprises managing director), Ester Kali (CEO Letshego Holdings Namibia), Marita Walther (EBikes4Africa), Tega Shiimi ya Shiimi (CEO Sanlam Investments), Professor Anicia Peters (Pro Vice Chancellor: University of Namibia), Thekla Mutero (Namib Rise & Shine Minerals).
