Busy weekend awaits Salute boxers

The MTC Salute Boxing Academy is gearing up for a busy weekend, with six of its boxers set to showcase their skills in matches both domestically and internationally.

The featured boxers include Nathanael Kakololo, Lazarus Shaningwa, Jonas Matheus, Petrus Matheus, Immanuel David and Simasiku Martin Muchila.

Super-featherweight boxer Kakololo is travelling to Russia for a lightweight division eight-round bout against Petr Vasilyev. His teammate Shaningwa is set to face off against Mikhail Varlamov, also from Russia, in a six-round non-title fight.

The boxers departed for Yakutsk, Russia, on Monday for the international boxing tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday. They are accompanied by coach Tobias Nashilongo.

Jonas Matheus, accompanied by his coach Elifas Elvis Nandjembo, is heading to Johannesburg, South Africa, today to participate in an international boxing tournament at the Booysen boxing camp. He will engage Sikho Ngothole in a non-title super flyweight 10-rounder.

In addition to the international contenders, Petrus Matheus, David and Muchila are set to display their talents at the Onkugo Boxing Promotion championship at the Jan Wilken Indoor Complex in Walvis Bay on Saturday.

Petrus Matheus will take on Fillipus Amwaama in a welterweight four-round bout, while David is scheduled for a four-rounder in the welterweight division against Martin Kambalili, who is making his pro-debut. Muchila and Naftalie Shooya will both make their pro-debut in a non-title fight in the heavyweight category.

Expressing confidence in their stable, MTC Salute Boxing Academy and Promotions owner Kriata Kamanya said on Monday that it will be a very busy weekend, and wished the boxers the best for their upcoming fights. – Nampa
