The Namibian Police are investigating a case of murder in which a 45-year-old man from Tsumeb was found lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound on the right side of his stomach.
In the weekend serious crime report, it is alleged that the incident where Herold Nawatiseb was stabbed, occurred on Saturday at around 05h00 in Nomtsoub.
He was declared dead upon arrival at the Tsumeb hospital and the suspect is unknown, therefore, no arrest has been made.
In another matter, in the same location on the same day, a 32-year-old male police officer sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed with a knife several times all over his head.
The officer is currently admitted at Tsumeb hospital in a stable condition and the two suspects, aged 32 and 25, were arrested and are expected to appear in court this week.
At Mondesa in Swakopmund on Friday, another 45-year old man sustained serious injuries on the head after a taxi driver assaulted him with an unknown object.
“It is alleged that Collin Peters had a heated argument with the taxi driver who brought him home. He was allegedly assaulted while waiting for his daughter to bring him the money to pay for the taxi. Shortly after he paid the taxi fare, the taxi driver allegedly got into his vehicle and drove off with an unidentified object which he used to assault the victim, leaving him unconscious,” said the report.
It further indicated that the victim was rushed to the Cottage Private Hospital by his family members and was transferred to the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek yesterday morning.
The report further shows that the nurses observed that the victim suffered a skull fracture. According to Deputy Commissioner, Erastus Iikuyu in Erongo, the taxi driver’s details are not known at this stage but his vehicle registration number is known. A case of attempted murder is being investigated while they are busy tracing the suspect.
