The draw for the CAF African Schools Football Championship will take place today in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
With a single draw being conducted for both the Boys and Girls Under-15 competitions, mapping out the teams’ potential paths to glory.
The CAF African Schools Football Competition and COSAFA qualifier will take place from 5-7 December 2025, bringing together the next generation of young football talent in the region.
Ten Member Associations have confirmed their participation: Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
With only the winner of each group advancing to the Continental Finals, the stakes will be high once the draw reveals the route each team will need to take.
The 2025 edition will be contested in a three-group format.
Group A will consist of four teams, while Groups B and C will include three each.
The structure aims to ensure competitive fairness while recognising countries that excelled last year.
As part of that recognition, South Africa, Zambia, and Malawi have been seeded at the top of each group. Host nation South Africa leads Group A, with Zambia and Malawi heading Groups B and C respectively, based on their strong performances at last year’s COSAFA qualifier in Namibia.
The remaining seven countries have been placed into two pots according to their 2024 rankings. Pot 1 includes Lesotho, Namibia, and Eswatini, while Pot 2 contains Zimbabwe, Botswana, Comoros, and Mozambique.
The draw will follow a straightforward procedure. Teams from Pot 1 will be drawn to fill the second position in each group (A2, B2, C2). Then the first three teams drawn from Pot 2 will complete the third positions (A3, B3, C3), finalising Groups B and C.
The last remaining team from Pot 2 will be placed in A4, completing Group A.
The draw results will be revealed immediately after the ceremony on COSAFA’s social media platforms. -newsroom@nepc.com.na
