RUNDU – A 23-year-old woman was arrested for the alleged possession of cannabis, appeared in the Rundu Magistrate Court yesterday.

The suspect was identified as Christine Shihepo Nanzira and was arrested at 14h00 last Friday at Kayengona village some 8 km east of Rundu.

She was arrested after police received a tip-off from the community that she sells drugs and a sting operation was set up to apprehend her.

“After getting a tip-off from the community we sent someone to go test-buy the cannabis and she was arrested,” Deputy Police Commissioner, Sam !Nawaseb, told New Era over the weekend.

!Nawaseb said Christine was apprehended with 40 grams of cannabis in her possession.

The case was postponed to November 10, to enable her to apply for legal aid and she was released on a warning to come to court on  November 10 .

She appeared before Magistrate Esme Molefe and Albert Titus represented the state.
